Nabihah Iqbal returns with DREAMER, her long-awaited new album out April 28th on Ninja Tune.
Five years since the London-born artist, curator, broadcaster and lecturer’s debut Weighing Of The Heart was released and two years in the making, DREAMER is Nabihah’s most raw and reflective work to date.
Nabihah has garnered huge critical acclaim from the likes of The Guardian, Pitchfork, Dazed, Time Out, Rolling Stone India, Mixmag, Vogue India, British Vogue, NME, DJ Mag, DIY. FACT Magazine, Wonderland Magazine, The FADER, Crack Magazine & Vinyl Factory to name a few.
Multiple US radio stations have championed Nabihah’s music, including support from KCRW (incl. Today’s Top Tune), KEXP (incl. KEXP live session), dublab, KUOM, WMSE and more. Nabihah has also hosted radio shows on NTS and BBC networks – Radio 1, 1Xtra, Asian Network, World Service and 6 Music since 2013. Nabihah also has a multitude of performance highlights, including shows at the MoMA PS1, SXSW, Glastonbury Festival, Boiler Room, Warehouse Project, Printworks and Sonar.
The forthcoming album arrives at a pivotal time for Nabihah, who has made her prolific work look effortless with a resume as varied as her music. Nabihah has recently collaborated with the likes of artist Zhang Ding (for his ICA exhibition) and photographer Wolfgang Tillmans (for his Tate Modern exhibition), been commissioned to compose music for the Turner Prize and was recently involved in a group performance at the Barbican as part of its major Basquiat retrospective. Nabihah has also been appointed as guest director for England’s largest multi-arts festival, Brighton Festival, in 2023, her “biggest, most challenging and exciting curatorial position” to date.
